Spring Handbag Trends For 2010

It's January, which means that stores are marking down last season's handbags and advertising their clearance sales. However, what every fashionista has on their mind right now is spring. They're thinking about the Spring Handbags collections and and spring 2010 handbags trends. So here's a preview of what you'll see from handbags brands including both affordable and designer labels.

Boho

Bohemian is back baby! You'll be seeing bags with that signature hippie-look including tie-dye, tribal/ethnic prints, tassels, and fringe. Plus, nothing says boho like slouchy hobos. Hobo handbags typically have a slouchy design and scooped center.

Hardware

Hardware is a trend being carried over from last season. Think studs, grommets, exposed zippers, and buckles. Many bags will include one or a few of these features.

Texture

Unique textures are making their way onto all of the classic shapes. No longer will you find a simple tote or satchel. This season the bag may include braided handles, woven leather, pleating, embroidery, or rouching detail. Also, look for weaved raffia bags. While straw handbags are always best-sellers in spring, raffia will be particularly popular.

Color

Just as with any other spring collection, you'll see handbags in pastel hues and bright colors. Unlike other spring handbag seasons, this year you'll also see neon colors as well as jewel toned colors like purples, blues, and greens which is something you might see more typically in the fall.

The bottom line is that Spring Handbags will be different. Look for bags that stand out from what we've been seeing for the past few seasons. Bags that have features that make them stand out, from color to texture to embellishments, are what's going to be hot.

Looking for a good spring handbag? Any suggestions?
I haven't had any luck finding the perfect spring handbag, or 2 haha. I need some advice, what are the hot handbags this season? I can't seem to find any I love, or like for that matter. I like quality items. I'm not looking for Coach or Dooney and Bourke, more along the lines of Marc Jacobs. Thanks!
